In early May Upper Missouri Water Shed Alliance (UMOWA) took on a stream bank restoration project near Wolf Creek on the Missouri river. We Planted about 140 shrubs to help stabilize a bank that cattle had beaten down. The trees, with the help from of a couple of Helena Boy Scout troops and IBEW were planted and fenced to keep them safe from deer and beavers. Hopefully protect the river for years to come. NorthWestern Energy and Montana Nursery provide the shrubs and UMOWA is providing the care. Two watering ramps are being built by the land owner for the cattle as well. UMOWA is a grass roots organization that uses science to protect the river. If you like to fish check them out at UMOWA.org or stop by the rendezvous June 16th at the Craig Fire Hall.
